Pay for Performance Marketing - I'll Gladly Pay You Later!

On episode #58 of the Rethink Marketing Podcast, Colin and Eric discuss  "PFP" or "Pay for Performance Marketing."    Many media companies are going all in on only charging  advertisers once they achieve defined results.  On the surface it sounds great.  If you could mitigate advertising risk you would certainly want to take a look.

On this episode  we try to educate and entertain with four things to consider when weighing a performance based marketing model. 1) Is your business a good fit for a "PFP" program,  considering both business vertical and product or service price point?  2) If it is,  you will need to negotiate  specifics of the program, it is usually not turn key.  3)  You need to take advantage of all the added value a "PFP" program will bring to your entire marketing strategy.  4) Costs and tradeoffs.  While most performance based marketing programs are built upon only paying when you achieve results there can also be  both set up fees and/or base buys built into the program.  For the right business  a "PFP" program in todays market can be a tremendous  results driven tactic but like all marketing tactics you need to really RETHINK them through and understand if they a fit.
